Scarlett Johansson made her first appearance on the big screen in 1994 when she acted in the movie “North” starring another child star, Elijah Wood.  From that performance, she went on to film several movies in the late 1990s including the thriller “Just Cause” with Sean Connery, “If Lucy Fell” and “Manny & Lo”, where she was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Actress.  She also added “Fall” and “Home Alone 3” to her acting resume in 1997.

She broke into the limelight when she appeared in 1998’s “The Horse Whisperer” as a young girl who suffers a tragic equestrian accident.  She was recognized for her acting in the movie and she got a Hollywood Reporter YoungStar Award for her stellar performance.

The new millennium brought a string of Golden Globe nominations for this talented young actress starting with 2002’s drama “Girl with a Pearl Earring” and 2003’s comedy “Lost in Translation” where she also won Best Actress at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards.  She earned another Golden Globe nomination for her work in “A Love Song for Bobby Long”.  And in July 2005, she continued her streak when her performance in Woody Allen’s drama “Match Point” earned her fourth Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress but subsequently lost to actress Rachel Weisz.

The actress has then appeared in movies playing different roles again, displaying her acting skills and adaptability.  She delivered another sterling performance in 2006’s “The Prestige” opposite Hugh Jackman and appeared in “The Nanny Diaries” the following year.  She finished filming her third Woody Allen collaboration, “Vicky Cristina Barcelona” and starred alongside Natalie Portman in 2008’s “The Other Boleyn Girl”.  Her future projects include a femme fatale role in Frank Miller’s movie adaptation of the comic book “The Spirit” by Will Eisner and a lead role in “Mary, Queen of Scots”.  She will also appear in the upcoming film “He’s Just Not That into You” alongside a stellar cast including Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly and Justin Long.
