Scarlett Johansson was born on November 22, 1984 in New York City to parents Karsten Johansson, a Danish-born architect, and Melanie Sloan, a producer from an Ashkenazi Jewish family living in the Bronx. She is the youngest of four siblings. Her family has a background in acting as her paternal grandfather, Ejner Johansson, was a screenwriter and director while her older sister Vanessa and twin brother Hunter are both actors. Influenced by her mother, a film buff, she started to express an interest in acting at the very young age of three and started to professionally act by the time she was eight years old.
Scarlett made her big-screen debut in the 1994 film “North”. She followed that movie with several other performances where, even though some were minor roles, started to earn her recognition as an up and coming star. She starred opposite Hugh Jackman in the 2006 movie “The Prestige” and in the year 2007, she appeared in “The Nanny Diaries” alongside Alicia Keys. Other completed projects for this beautiful young actress are “The Other Boleyn Girl” and “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”.
Aside from her work on the big screen, Scarlett is also the endorser of several big name products. Because of her popularity and charm, she is considered as one of the most sought after celebrities for advertising different products. Among her advertisements is Calvin Klein’s perfume “Eternity Moment” where she was featured in several commercials and print ads for the product. Big name designer brand Louis Vuitton made Scarlett their official face and spokesperson in the year 2005, with the actress appearing in three of the brand’s ad campaigns. She was also a spokesperson for L’Oreal. Sporting brand Reebok has also signed a deal with the actress to co-create an athletic footwear brand, stating that Johansson is a “world renowned style icon and an inspiration for today’s young women”. Scarlett was featured in a global women’s advertising campaign with Reebok in 2007.

She has been linked to many famous men including Derek Jeter, Benicio del Toro, Jared Leto, Justin Timberlake and Josh Hartnett. She is currently dating Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds. She has stated that she did not believe in monogamy and that it is not human nature to be with just one person. She also contradicted the public perception of her as being promiscuous saying that when she’s in a relationship, she works really hard to make it work.
